is a city in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States, and is a suburb of Phoenix. The population was 168,181 at the 2010 census. Peoria is currently the sixth largest city in Arizona for land area and the ninth largest city for population. It anchors a large suburban area, known as the West Valley, that extends westward to the cities of Glendale
and Surprise. Peoria is one of several rapidly growing cities located along an extension of California’s Interstate 10 corridor in what is now being called the Inland Empire. According to 2010 Census data, the population of Peoria has increased every year since 1990.
