The island of St. Martin (French side) and St. Barthélemy (Dutch side) are governed by different countries, but they’re close enough to share a common currency – the Euro. The French portion uses Euros, while the Dutch portion uses Curacao Dollars; both currencies can be exchanged at any bank or shop on either side of the border for other currencies accepted throughout Europe without fees or commissions
(though it’ll usually be more convenient for you to go across to France if you want something that’s not available in your native country).
The easiest way to get from the Cruise Port in St. Maarten to Maho Beach is by taxi. The fare should be around $25-$50 USD depending on your bargaining skills and distance travelled, but it’s best not to haggle as this will only increase the price. Make sure you have cash because there are no ATMs available on site or nearby! You can also take a ferry which leaves from behind Hotel de Westland (right next door) every hour during daylight hours; however, these ferries only run when weather permits so check ahead before setting out for an adventure!
